A little holiday at Avillion Village Resort, Port Dickson

It’s the year-end school holidays so off we went to spend our little holiday last weekend in Port Dickson at Avillion Village Resort.

They have this Malay-village style chalets sitting on stilts above sea water overlooking the Straits of Malacca.

There is the white sandy beach, the sound of waves crashing against the shore, the light cool sea breeze blowing and the swaying coconut trees. A perfect place for me to relax and experience peace and quiet free, from the maddening affairs of city life.

It was fun for our kids and very romantic for me and my wife. We had an enjoyable time.

The 1.2 metres deep Village Pool at Avillion Village Resort in Port Dickson. There is another Cochin Pool strictly for adults only.

It's funtime for these kids gliding down the slide at the children's pool.

We picked up these in the sands while taking walks along the beach.

Saw this sign at my room's verandah. My mother always prefer hanging clothes outside but here I guess they consider unsightly.

Beautiful lotus floating on the surface of ponds at front entrance to the resort.

Spending lazy days sitting at beach lounge chairs listening to the sound of waves crashing against the shore.

I saw this huge sewage pipe at Riau Beach on the far right end of the resort. The sewage is discharged directly into the sea. There is another similar sewage pipe at Tumasek Beach set on the far left end of the resort. The beach at Port Dickson will continue to be dirty.

After a walk at the beach, guests use this traditional Malay footwash method to wash their legs.

The rooms come with Avillion’s four-poster beds. Very romantic.

This is unique - I prefer taking my shower under the open sky to soaking myself in the bath tub.

The resort's peacocks roaming around at the resort. I saw these birds perching on rooftops of chalets.

The resort's Avi Spa in a modern glass building looking out of place at the traditional Malay fishing village resort. I requested for photo-taking of the interior decors but was politely turned down Spa Manageress Ayuko Suzuki, a sweet lady. Company policy I guess but she promised to send me pics of the spa's decor.

Long queues forming outisde the Village Court restaurant for buffet breakfast.

These musicians playing very soothing traditional Malay musics to the ears.

Taking a walk barefooted along the reflexology path.

A couple playing dart game. The resort offers a variety of games for guests' enjoyment.

Young guests playing a game of snooker.

Children playing a game of congkak - a traditional Malay game.

A family playing carrom.

At the Kid's Cabin, children playing with brick toys.

This boy enjoying his computer game at the play stations

Children trying their hands at sand arts.

The resort employs Gurkha guards who patrol the vast 23 acres of the resort. At least I can feel safe and sleep with peace of mind.
