Cultural dance showcase at 2nd Latin American Festival in Kuala Lumpur

The grand annual 2nd Latin American Festival held at Qba Courtyard in Westin Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on Sunday June 7, 2009 was a great success judging by the bigger crowd that jammed-packed the place as compared to previous one held.

The glamourous event was the initiative of the embassies of Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela in conjunction with the Latin American Ladies Association.

Malaysians, tourists from Westin Hotel and nearby hotels and the Latin American community working in Malaysia joined in the merriment with great gusto. They had a fun time celebrating themselves to the best of authentic Latin American food, music and dance.

Each Latin country set up its own stall manned by embassy staff and selling traditional delicious dishes and native arts and handcrafts. Admission to the festival is free but guests had to purchase coupons for the items they want. There are the irresistible temptations from the wide array of exotic and delicious Latin American cuisine, wine, whisky, Cuban cigar and many others.

Proceeds generated by this event went to MAKNA (Majlis Kanser Nasional) or National Cancer Council.

The Latin American dance performances created the excitement with the guests dancing and enjoying themselves all day afternoon long! Sophisticated, elegant, flirtatious, spunky and seductive, the Latin American dance has it all.

All in all, it was a cultural experience and a great party to remember for everyone present. It was a day of good food, great music and a swinging good time. An event that the guests will be talking about and a good enough reason to return for more at the next festival!
