World AIDS Day 2008 celebration at Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur

Today December 1, 2008 is World AIDS Day.

I found this out yesterday at Berjaya Times Square, KL where there was a celebration organized by Malaysian AIDS Council (MAC) with this year’s campaigning slogan, “Stop AIDS, Keep The Promise” to help raise people’s awareness of AIDS and HIV and to keep away from the disease.

I can say it was a great success judging by the good turnout of mixed racial and aged group of crowd of shoppers and participants of the various activities planned such as cycling event where cyclists, young and old, cycled around the city centre, free health check, stage dance and songs, musical instruments performance, fashion show, children colouring contest, inflatable kiddies playland and free condoms distribution. Well done MAC!

There was also an interactive exhibition by World Vision Malaysia to raise awareness of the effects of AIDS on children. It is good to know that there are many others who are committed and want to work together to stop AIDS.
