Tens of thousands of visitors thronged the Malaysia Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair held at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) Kuala Lumpur from March 13 – 15, 2009 to get the best travel bargains and discounts on tour packages, air tickets and other travel-related products.
Admission to the fair is from 10.00 am to 9.00pm and entrance fee is RM3 per adult and free for children below the age of 12.
Seems like the current global economic crisis with unemployment sharply rising and recession looming had not deterred prospective travellers some of whom had saved enough and slaved themselves at work to take a hard earned and well deserved holiday.
But think again, tourism plays a vital part in boosting up the domestic economy (provided travellers opt for domestic holidays) and the MATTA fair is the answer to the government’s call for domestic spending by consumers.
I went to the Matta Fair on Saturday, March 14, 2009 and enjoyed the various fun and exciting activities especially the international performances and shows by the various national tourism organizations of participating countries.
