Going for Mengo Green Treasure Hunt by LRT and monorail

About 480 participants took part in the MENGO Green Hunt held on Saturday 27th June, 2009. In the first ever “green” treasure hunt, they moved around the city using only public transport to reduce emissions from motorized vehicles.

All the materials used and consumed in the hunt used minimum packaging and recycled materials.

The hunt saw participants wearing green colour t-shirts solving riddles from clues scattered along the routes. They first took the Light Rail Transit (LRT) train at Taman Jaya station in Petaling Jaya, disembarked at LRT Dang Wangi in Kuala Lumpur and continued from nearby Monorail Bukit Nanas station which took them to KL Sentral station, then continued on foot to the end point at Summer View Hotel building opposite the station.

Participants were later treated to vegetarian lunch packed in recycled lunch box and spoon at the canteen of a primary school near the hotel. The prize-giving presentation was also held in the school's hall.

The MENGO Green Hunt is organized by MENGO (Malaysian Environmental NGOs) in association with Purple Antz to raise awareness on sustainable living, global warming and the 3Rs.
