A search and rescue operation is still underway to locate six foreign workers still missing and believed trapped under the debris of the collapsed Jaya shopping centre in Jalan 14/17 Petaling Jaya.
The building was undergoing demolition works when the incident happened at 4.45pm on 28th May, 2009.
Two bodies of Indonesian workers had been found so far.
Christine, a resident who stays at Menara Bakti apartment opposite the collapsed building, said she saw about six excavators on the rooftop of the 4-storey building carrying out demolition works when suddenly there was a loud roar like a thunder before a section of the building facing the residential houses suddenly gave way and crumbled to the ground.
The 4-storey shopping centre is slated to be replaced with a new 6-storey high mall.
