Chinese New Year 2009 gala dinner by Gabungan Persatuan Cina

Guests enjoyed a delightful 9-course Chinese set menu of dishes with delicious and hearty food at a Chinese new year gala dinner held on Sunday February 22, 2009 at the school hall of SRJK (C) Sungei Way in Petaling Jaya.

The gala dinner is usually held at the end of the first month of the Chinese new year and coordinated by Petaling district Chinese organizations and its advisors and organizing committees comprised respected leaders of the Chinese communities and wakil rakyat (elected representatives).

Present at the gala evening were a number of VIPs including Dato’ Seri Lim Bok Seng, Dato’ Donald Lim Siang Chai, Dato’ Dr Wong Sai Hou, Dato’ Lim Choon Kin, Selangor State Assembly Deputy Speaker and Taman Medan state assemblywoman YB Puan Haniza Mohd Talha, Selangor Executive Councillor (Exco) YB Ronnie Liu Tian Khiew, Petaling Jaya Selatan MP YB Hee Loy Sian, Kampung Tunku state assemblyman YB Lau Weng San, Damansara Utama state assemblyman YB Cheah Wing Yin and other community leaders.

The splendid food and first class entertainment of classical and modern songs by popular singers and the Thousand Hands Guanyin dance performance didn’t disappoint. They kept the guests entertained throughout the evening.

Like all good things, the meal and show came to an end too soon with a ‘yam seng’ toast of prosperity and longevity to everyone present.

Guests departed and hope to gather again come next Chinese new year.

The Thousand Hands Guanyin (Goddess of Mercy) dance performance. Beautiful and truly amazing. The forming of arm and hand positions standing behind each other in a perfect column.

The guests were thrilled by the synchronized movements of the Thousand Hands Guanyin (Goddess of Mercy) dancers who performed with exquisite grace and precision.

I love the Thousand Hands Guanyin dance performance which was one of the prettiest things I have ever seen.
